Trevor does Belize & Guatemala!
Ok so me and my 'expensive looking camera' are off for a crazy two weeks, I spend a week down in central America, then to come back to Boston for 36 hours then fly to San Francisco for the week and the holiday.
So let me just start by letting you all in on some information about this small Central American country.
(from wikipedia)
Belize is the only officially English speaking country in Central America. Up until 1973 it was known as British Honduras, and became an independent nation in 1981.
The country is about 9,000 square miles and has a population of just under 300,000, which makes it one of the lowest population density of any country on earth.
Belize has the highest rate of unemployment in Central America at 9.8%, and 33% of it’s population is living in poverty. Their main exports are bananas and sugar.
I have to get back to packing! But there will be pictures and fun facts along the way.
I fly out Saturday at 5am!
